Maratab Ali wins Pakistan’s first Asiad Medal in Martial Arts

INCHEON: Finally Pakistan is on the medals table, thanks to Maratab Ali who secured a bronze medal in 70kg Wushu event after losing the semi-final match against a Chinese opponent Kun Zhang at the 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea.

Ali defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Nurlanbek Mamadaliev 2-0 to qualify for the semi-final, overall the third day of the competition gave a bad blow to Pakistan. As Shah Hussain Shah was knocked out in 100kg finals from judoka at Duwan Gymnasium.

On the other hand, Greenshirts football team also crashed out from the tournament after losing their second consecutive match to China 1-0 in Group F at Hwaseong Stadium, similarly at Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium Abdullah Khan lost a quarter-final match to India’s Narender Grewal in 60kg category of Wushu competition.
