Flood Warning issued to various Punjab Cities due to heavy rains
LAHORE: As heavy rains continue to pour down, flood warning has been issued to various cities/villages of Punjab and the rescue / disaster management teams have been put on red alert.
By far the devastating rains in Punjab have left above 80 people dead in different areas and most of the death caused by roof collapses and electric current.
In Punjab, reports said, the death from rain-related incidents reached 60 whereas In Azad Kashmir, at least 18 people died reportedly.
Authorities in Sialkot and Narowal areas have issued flood warnings in various areas of Punjab and evacuated local people from villages.
The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that presently River Chenab is flowing in very high flood at Marala and high flood in Khanki-Qadirabad reach while the River Jhelum is in medium flood at Rasul Barrage.
The army troops has been called in for rescue works and assistance of local administration. More intense rainfall is expected in next 24 hours which may be devastating in means of floods.
